A Blog With No Name

Hello again, here I am with a few more great postcards.  Let's start with a couple from Poland , Warsaw to be exact.  Both cards show the Old City section of the Capital. One the first one you can see The Monument of the Warsaw Mermaid, the city's symbol.

Chris used 3 nice stamps on this , the first of his two cards. On the left is a stamp from 2016 commemorating The NATO Summit held in Warsaw. THe other 2 stamps are from a 1999 set of 6 issued for Henryk Sienkiewicz's trilogy of novels.

Chris' s second card shows a lot of the red roofs found in the Old City area.

Chris used  3 stamps on this one , too. The 2 left stamps are from a 2004 Birds set of 4. The right stamp is a 2016 Think Green Europa Stamp.

This next card arrived from Vienna, Austria. It's a nice view of the Austrian Parliament Building, on  which construction started in 1874 and was completed in 1883.

A PostCrosser called Sandra sent this card. She used 2 stamps that I hadn't seen before. On the left is a 2016 stamp issued for Postcrossing. One of the nicer Postcrossing stamps issued to date. In my opinion many of the earlier ones have been designed quite poorly- too busy, or too childlike, and more like stickers. Austria is , I think, the 14th country to issue a Postcrossing stamp so far. The 2nd stamp on the card is a 2012 stamp commemorating 100 years of the steamship Schonbrunn. It was the last paddle steamer on the Austrian section of the Danube.

Here's another postcard in the Flowers of Sri Lanka set. This one features the Delonix regia, known for its fern like leaves and flamboyant display of flowers.

Ravindra used a 2016 stamp from a set of 12 called Unseen Sri Lanka. This one features sand dunes of Poonerin.

A card of Baden-Baden, set in the western foothills of the Black Forest is next. The town of 55,000 is a spa town with 29 natural springs in the area, with water temperatures ranging from 46 to 67 degrees C.

Dominique used 2 examples of the 2016 stamp featuring Saxon Switzerland National Park, Germany's only rock national park.

It's time for today's last call - sorry last card. It arrived from Brisbane , Australia. This nice Aviation related card features TAA - Trans Australian Airline. Government owned TAA was launched on 7th October, 1946. The famous TAA hostess advertising poster that this card is based on was introduced in 1952. As the sign says
" Fly TAA - the friendly way ".

Jean Pierre used 3 stamps on his card. Most notable is the Christmas Island  ( Australia ) stamp issued for Year of the Rooster 2017. The other 2 are International Airmail Rate stamps.

Sorry that the Christmas Island stamp didn't scan all that well. It's very beige in color , so a little hard to see.

Well that is the new on the blog this time. Thanks for cards today go out to Chris, Sandra, Ravindra, Dominique and Jean Pierre.

Thanks for dropping in and hope to see you back again soon.
As always, if you want to comment about anything you see here on the blog - feel free to do so. Take care.
