No Title Day

      Blog # 1701

Day 1704 ( That's One Thousand Seven Hundred and Four Days ) Since the Start of the  Current ( Second )   Russian Invasion of UKRAINE .

                                                                      Glory To UKRAINE

Before I get to a few cards, I just want to finish up where I left off my last blog. The results are in and Alberta stays in Canada and I remain a Canadian in Alberta.
The Remain in Canada side voted 76% to stay Canadian while the separatists voted 24% in a losing battle to leave.
If you could see me now, you would see a smiling Glenn.

Enough of politics !

My first card today is a Postcrossing card from Osaka, Japan. It captures a tender, family moment.

A Postcrosser called Kotoko is the sender of this card. She used 3 wonderful stamps. The left stamp was issued in 1987, 1 of 2 in a lovely set issued for Philatelic Week. The right stamp , issued in 1964, is from a set of 5 issued for the 1964 Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo.  The middle stamp I was not able to identify

My second card is from Canada.  It`s a World Postcard Day card from 2024, in an illustration by Rose Wong.  Deshanta sent this  card and it`s her second card to me. Her first card was sent in August. Deshanta wrote that Autumn is one of her favourite seasons since moving to Canada. She also wrote that she is looking forward to hearing from me. Therein lies my conundrum . I can`t reach out to you since I don`t know you, I don`t know where you live or how to get in touch with you. I would love to reach out and personally thank you for your cards and thank you for reading my blog. Now I look forward to hearing from you Deshanta. Please, either leave a comment here on my blog or contact me at glennemoores(at)gmail.com
I will be more than happy to send you a card and say hi.

This card arrived with a 2024 stamp from a set of 3 issued for Truth & Reconcillation.

Now here`s the last card for this time. It arrived from France. With Halloween fast approaching I  felt this card might fit in even though it is not Halloween themed.  It is kind of ominous and spooky. It shows a painting by realistic and visionary painter Bruno Altmayer.

Dominique used a 2014 stamp issued for the Philatelic Salon held in Clermont-Ferrand.

There you have it, the latest update of the blog. Thanks go out today to Kotoko, Deshanta and Dominique.

The Great White North, Strong and Free

      Blog # 1700

Day 1698 ( That's One Thousand Six Hundred and Ninety Eight Days ) Since the Start of the  Current ( Second )   Russian Invasion of UKRAINE .

Today I am flying The Canadian Flag - The Maple Leaf for one simple reason , to show my Pride in this Great country. Today is Referendum Day in Alberta. There are people in Alberta who want to breakup Canada and form their own country of Alberta. Let me be clear , I am not one of them. If that ever happens I will be one of the first to leave Alberta in order to remain a Canadian. I was born in Canada and I wish to die in Canada. I voted in this referendum and I Voted To Remain in Canada and to Remain A Canadian.

As much as I like and want a postcard from a new country, I do not want one from a country called Alberta.

LONG LIVE CANADA -- THE GREAT WHITE NORTH , STRONG and FREE

Flying Machines.

     Blog # 1699

Day 1688 ( That's One Thousand Six Hundred and Eighty Eight Days ) Since the Start of the  Current ( Second )   Russian Invasion of UKRAINE .

                                                            GLORY TO UKRAINE

Well we have a winner for my Big Giveaway as mentioned in my last update. And the winner is Gerda of the blog MYPOSTCARD-PAGE. A nice postcard will be on its way to Gerda very soon.
Now the answer to the identity of the mystery women shown is - Eleonor of Toledo.

Now on to todays cards.
This first card arrived from Austria. It features a single engine plane flying over some grape plants. Not sure if the airline is Grape Jam, Air Jam or Jam Air. Either way, it is a welcome card to my aircraft card collection.

Bruno used a number of stamps on his card. The tree stamps are definitives. The right stamp was issued in 2023 and shows Mariastein Church. The other large stamp , from 2026, commemorates the 400th Anniversary of the Farmers War of 1626.

Card 2 is another great flying machine. The Great Bustard, the heaviest flying bird in the world.
They can be up to 18 kg.

Judith used a definitive issued in 2025 on her card.

Well folks , a short update this time, just 2 cards. Thanks to Bruno and Judith for their cards .
Take care all. Congrats one more time to Gerda.

Bahamas Postal System, Mozambique, A Mystery Lady and the Big Giveaway

    Blog # 1698

Day 1683 ( That's One Thousand Six Hundred and Eighty Three Days ) Since the Start of the  Current ( Second )   Russian Invasion of UKRAINE .

                                                            GLORY TO UKRAINE

Well hello once again, I know, I know , it has been quite awhile. No reasons really other than life sometimes gets in the way. August and September were really trying times .

My first card today is from Nassau, Bahamas. This is a card that My Lovely Teena sent back when we were last there, as she always does. Her card shows a lovely relaxing Take it Easy sunset in the Caribbean.

Teena used a 1968 stamp highlighting International Human Rights.

Now speaking of the Bahamas Postal Service, you are so right, no one was. Well I am about to. But first let me show a couple of postcards showcasing the Bahamas Postal Service.

Okay, so here is the story. If you look at the stamp on the card that Teena sent, you will notice that it reads August 28, 2026. She and I were nowhere near Nassau on August 28th. The last time we were there was back in March of this year when these cards were posted along with a bunch for my postcard friends around the world. These arrived in Alberta the last week of September  and according to a few emails from friends, they arrived in Europe around the same time. This is more than amazing : cards posted in March, postmarked in August and arrived late September. Congratulations Bahamas Postal service. I had long ago given up on your service. But hey, you came through in the end. As we say in Calgary , YAHOO .  I am sure we all wonder where cards get to, why they sometimes never reach their destination, not to mention how they get postmarked 5 months after posting. Mysteries never cease, do they.

My next card will be a little quiz , just because I have not had one in a long while.  I want to know who is the subject of the card. The card arrived from the U.S. so that is no help. It shows a lovely young lady in a expensive looking dress, with a couple of rings. The only clue you get today is this  - she is credited with being the first modern first lady or consort. The first correct answer earns that person a lovely postcard with 3 lovely stamps. So put your thinking caps on and you might just get lucky. Leave a comment with your answer.
Without further ado, here she is .

No help here , but here are the stamps on the card.

Here is card 3 for today. No quiz on this one.
It arrived from Maputu , Mozambique. It shows a map of the country and a birds eye view of the capital city.

David used 3 stamps on his card. The left stamp was issued in 2019 featuring Pope Francis. The middle stamp dates from 2010 and showcases 20 years of AICEP, the Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency. The right stamp , from last year, was issued for World Vision.

Interesting thing here - card was posted on January 21, 2026 and I received it September 11th. I guess the Bahamas Post Office is not the worst after all.

Well I guess that is the update for this time. I have to ease back into it after all. Thanks for todays cards go to My Lovely Teena, Brian and David. Take care all.
Remember now to enter my big Postcard Giveaway. First correct answer wins all.
Cheers.
