Jobbo's and Dominique's Cards and 2 others

Here I am , ending June with a number of cards that I didn't get in yesterday's blog. These next cards are from Jobbo in Thailand , Dominique in France , Rasa in Lithuania and Cecile in France. So here we go .

Jobbo's first card is from Bangkok. It's one of the world's great tourist destinations and has served as the capital of Thailand since 1782. Shown on the card is the Ministry of the Interior Building. To the right you can see the statute of HRH Prince Damrong Rajanubhab, the nation's first Minister of State.

The stamp on the left is from 1999. It is 1 of 9 in a souvenir sheet issued to celebrate the 72nd Birthday of The King. On the right is a stamp from 1996. It's also from a souvenir sheet of 6  issued for the King's Golden Jubilee  .

Jobbo's second card gives us a great look at Wat Benchamabophit, a Buddist Temple in Bangkok. It is one of the city's most beautiful temples and is a major tourist attraction. It was designed by Prince Naris and construction began in 1899. The temple is constructed of Italian marble.

A great little collection of stamps on this one. On the left is a stamp showing Wat Benchamabophit, issued in 2002, 1 of 4 in a set of Temples. The middle stamp , from 1991, celebrates Prince Naris. The right stamp was issued in 2013, to celebrate the 150th Birthday of Prince Naris. Just a great card with great stamps.

That's Jobbo's card for this time, now it's on to Dominique's. They arrived from Italy, Slovenia and France. Let's start with one of the two from Italy.
This first card shows us Duino Castle. It's a 14th century fortification located in Duini, near Trieste, Italy. Construction on this castle dates back to 1389. Now a private residence of the Princess della Torre e Tasso, it has been open to the public since 2003.

Dominique used 2 great stamps on this one, which was posted in Trieste.  The left stamp is 1 of a set of 9 issued for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games held in Turin. It is the highest valued stamp in the set. The stamp on the right was issued in 2011 and commemorates a stamp from the period 1859-1861. It was the first stamp I do believe to show the word Italian.

Not far from Trieste is Koper, Slovenia . And, that's where this next card was posted. It's a look at some of the main buildings in Koper main square.

Here's a stamp that will be part of my Aviation collection. It was issued in 2014 and commemorates the Rescue of Allied Airmen between 1944 and 1945. The Slovenian partisans and Patriots rescued 667 airmen from 207 Allied planes that crashed.

Now for Dominique's 3rd card.  It's a card showing Banco Rosso, one of the many pawnshops in the Ghetto of Venice, a residence for the Jewish population in 1500. It is one of the oldest Jewish Ghettos of all time.

 Dominique used a 2014 stamp of The Pope and one of his new cardinals.

Card 4 from Dominique is of Chateau de Fleckenstein , located in Lembach, France, just 200 meters from the present French German border. . Although it may be difficult to see from the photo, the chateau is built in the form of a 52m long boat. A castle has existed on this site since 1165, and has been modified and modernised many times after it was completely destroyed in 1689.

The single stamp on this card was issued in 2014 with a tab which is still attached, on the right side. The stamp celebrates Poitiers, a city on the Clain River in west-central France.

Rasa's card is next and it's from Vilnius , Lithuania. It shows the art work of Beata Kurkul. I don't know much about her work but there is a huge selection of it online. This one of an aviatrix is a nice addition to any aviation collection.

Rasa used a 2015 stamp showing a Lutra Lutra or Eurasian Otter, an animal that can be found in the Red Book of Endangered Species.

Now for the last card. It comes from France and shows a lady on a balcony in Paris. Actually though, it's  a mannequin on a balcony in Paris. One question - why is she not a womanquin ?

Cecile used a 2014 Marianne stamp , 1 of 4 in a Green Letter issue.
