Tara, Air Malta, Bayern and Bette

BLOG 1577 --- Day 819 of the Pandemic --- Day 104 of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

                                                             GLORY TO UKRAINE

Here we go again, with a few more cards Ladies and Planes are the subjects this time. So here we go.

But first this : to those who read my blog often , you will know what I speak of here. Another of the cards I sent out from Cuba has arrived in Spain. That is the second of 25 to arrive. So hang in there and yours should arrive.

Now to the cards for today.

My first card today is the 3rd of the Celtic Woman series. This one shows Tara McNeill, an Irish violinist, harpist and soprano singer from Northern Ireland. She is a graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Tara has toured many countries and performed with well known artists such as Bono, II Devo and Josh Groban.

Again, all these Celtic Woman cards were received with the assistance of David from Dublin. The stamp on the far left was issued in 2o11 showcasing Golf and the Solheim Cup. The other 3 are from a 2010 set of 6 honoring Irish Fashion Designers.

Card 2 for this time arrived from Gozo, Malta. It shows an Air Malta A320, registered as 9H-AEP. This aircraft is 15.3 years old and entered service with Air Malta in March of 2007. It is still flying for Air Malta however for a short time, from Oct 2007 to  April 2008, it was leased to Etihad Airlines. The livery shown on this card has changed considerably to a much fuller and brighter design, however the Maltese Cross remains.

Maria used a stamp from a 2020 sheet of 16 , all showing Dogs. The stamp shows a Weimaraner Dog.

Next is a card from Germany showing Bette Davis. She was an American actress who won 2 Academy Awards for Best Actress , in 1936 and 1939. When all is said and done, Davis was not my favourite actress and I stayed away from her movies. But what do I know .

Eveline used a Flower definitive along with a 2017 stamp celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of German photographer Heinz Sielmann.

Time for a card from Bavaria, Germany. Did someone say Beer.  Is it Oktoberfest already.

Doreen used a Flower definitive and a 2022 stamp showing Benjamin the Elephant, star of an animated television show that aired from 1988 to 2002.

Here is the last card for today. It arrived from the USA. It is a Western Pacific Boeing 737-300. The low cost airline operated in the U.S. from 1995 to 1998. It started with eight 737s and ended with 15. This particular aircraft N949WP started in May 1985 with Piedmont Airlines. From 1989 to 1995 it flew with US Air and then from June 1995 to May1998 it saw service with Western Pacific. It last flew with Southwest Airlines up until Aug 2016 when it was stored in Tucson.
This Simpsons paint scheme was only one of many wacky liveries on Western Pacific Airlines fleet.

Jean Pierre mailed this card from The Smithsonian Postal Museum Station. It arrived with an assortment of stamps. On the left is a definitive from 2017 showing Red Pears. Next is a 2021 stamp showing a Brush Rabbit. Then, from 2022, a Flag definitive. The far right stamp is an Air Mail stamp from 1988 featuring Samuel F. Langley, Aviation Pioneer.

Well that ends another entry in the Blogosphere. My thanks go out to Jean Pierre, Doreen, Eveline, Maria and David. I have lots of cards on hand again so I should be back here soon again. Take care,
