Back so soon - who would believe ?

Well here we are again. who would have thought ? Strange how things happen - one time there's a week between blogs and them bam , you get a couple running one after the other. That's the kind of day it is , today running right after yesterday.  Even though I haven't received any mail for 2 days - not even a bill or sales flyer I still have a few great cards on hand. So let's get to them.

Today's first card arrived from Krakow, Poland. It shows a pile of old postcards on someone's desk. A postcard of postcards - it doesn't get better than that. I have a pile or two like that lying around too.

A Postcrosser named Ewa sent this card. She used a 2016 stamp from an ongoing Flowers and Fruits set.

Next is the latest card from My Lovely Teena. It's from a town called Okotoks, in Alberta. It's located on the Sheep River, 18km south of Calgary and has a population of around 25,000. The name Okotoks is derived from a Siksika word meaning " stoney " , referring to a crossing site of the Sheep River.
Okotoks is famous for its glacial erratic which was transported there by the continental glacier of the last Ice Age, roughly 10,000 years ago,  likely from Mount Edith Cavell. Called Big Rock or the Okotoks Erratic , it is located about 7 km west of the town .  it weighs in at 16,500 tonnes.
Teena's card shows the Olde Towne Plaza area, and the Heartland Cafe, located in a former church.

Teena and I were in Okotoks to attend a baseball game hosted by the Okotoks Dawgs of the Western Major Baseball League at Seaman Stadium. We also enjoyed a wonderful meal at the highly recommended British Chippy. Teena used a 2018 Year of The Dog Stamp and received a great clear circular cancel. It's from a pane of 20, not to be confused with the booklet stamps.

From The Foothills of The Rockies, we head out to The Solomon Islands, a long way from Okotoks. From what I've seen and read about The Solomon Islands, just 10 words are enough to get the feel for them , Cultural, Natural, Pictorial, Explorable, Historical, Lovable, Immersible, Hospitable, Delectable and Unforgettable. The view on David's card alone is enough to make you want to go.

David used 2 stamps on his card. On the left, issued in 2005, is 1 of 4 showing Skinks. Shown is the Prehensile-Tailed Skink. On the right is a stamp from a set of 2 featuring Solomon Hawk-Owls . I couldn't find out their date of issue.

This next card is from Germany. It is a picture of a famous art nouveau building at the Mathildenhoehe in Darmstadt. It is called the Wedding Towerand it was commissioned on the occasion of the wedding of the Grand Duke Ernst-Ludwig in 1908.

Dominique used 2 stamps on his card. I don't know much, not anything actually, about them. If stamps aren't pure postage stamps issued by the post office, I'm pretty much in the dark. Personal postage, computer generated postage and ATM stamps are all foreign to me.  Here they are.

I'm sure someone knows something about them and will leave a comment to enlighten me.

Here's another card from Germany. This one is a photo by Klaus Ender of a young lady contemplating life and all it has to offer, by the sea.

Norbert from Dorsten used a couple of stamps on his card. Both are from 2017. On the left is 1 of 2 in a set celebrating Astrophysics. On the right , another from the long running Flora - Flowers set.

Just 2 more cards for this edition of the blog.
Up now is the ``L`` Train in Chicago. This historic elevated rail system has been in operation since 1892 and serves the City of Chicago through eight rapid transit lines. The system is 165.4 km long, has a top speed of 89 km per hour   and has a daily ridership of 767,730. The L has been featured in a number of movies such as The Fugitive, Planes Trains and Automobiles and also the old ER tv series.

Kristin used 2 stamps on this one. On the left is a current year stamp from the Bioluminescent  Life set. A very nice set of stamps. On the right is the 2011 Save Vanishing Species First Class stamp.

Here  it is . The last one. It arrived from China, Beijing in fact. A good look at a part of the Summer Palace. Located in northwest Beijing, it is said to be the best preserved imperial garden in the world and the largest of its kind in China. It was added to the  UNESCO World Heritage Sites list in 1998.

Xinxin used a few nice stamps on this card. The top left stamp was issued in 2016 for the Rio Olympic Games. It is 1 of 2 in the set. The long stamp on the right , also from 2016, is 1 of 5 in this Lighthouse set.The 3rd stamp, the Ship stamp , was issued in 2013.

There you have it my friends. Another update from GemsWorldPostcards. Today, thanks go out to Ewa, My Lovely Teena, David, Dominique, Norbert, Kristin, and Xinxin.
I`ll be back here soon , join me , why don`t you !
