Two cards arrived in today's mail. One from Tbilisi, Georgia and one from Los Angeles, USA. The Georgia card was sent by Khatuna who lives in Tbilisi. She has already contributed to this blog with an earlier card from Georgia. Her card today shows a view of Old Tbilisi, dating back to the 4 th century.
There are a number of wonderful stamps on the card. The blue stamp on the top was issued in 2001 , 1 of a set of 2 featuring archeology and in this case sculpture art. The white stamp in the middle was issue in 2007, 1 of a set of 3 , issued for mountain climbing and mountains. The mountain shown on this stamp is Shkhara, the highest point in the nation of Georgia , with an elevation of 5,200 metres. The final stamp on the top was issued in 2005, celebrating 50 years of Europa. This stamp is 1 of a set of 4 featuring stamps on stamps. The stamps on the bottom left of the card were issued in 2002 and 2006. The 2002 stamp features Alexandre Dumas and the 2006 stamp features the Tbilisi Cable Railway, which celebrated100 years in 2005.
My other card today shows the famous Hollywood Sign. The card was sent by Postcrosser Kate from Los Angeles. The sign is a famous landmark in The Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles. It was created in 1923 and spells out the name in 50 feet high white letters.
I see I only have one entry for my Country # 200 competition, that I mentioned in yesterday's posting. Come on you guys, live a little , take a chance.
