ATS , Pan Am Clipper and Hall's Josenturm

BLOG # 1568 -- Day 785 of the Pandemic   and Day 69 of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

                                                             GLORY TO UKRAINE

Hi once again, I have a few cards for this time. First is this Pan American advertising card. It shows what looks like or is similar  to a Boeing 314 Clipper . They operated from the late 1930s and into the 1940s.Pan Am flew the Clipper from San Francisco to Hawaii and it took 16 hours.

Suvi from Finland sent this card along. The stamp was issued in 2017 and shows former Finland President Mauno Koivisto.

My second card is from Germany. It's a look at the clocktower and surrounding area in Schwabish Hall. Known as Hall for short, this city in the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg is located in the valley of the Kocher river.

Dominique used a stamp 2020 highlighting the Munich metro station.

Join the ATS  -- that's the message on this next card. The ATS is the Auxiliary Territorial Service. This 1941 British poster by Abram Games asks women to join the ATS, which offered joins as clerks, drivers and cooks. The ATS was the women's branch of the British Army during the Second World War. It was formed on 9 September 1938, initially as a women's voluntary service and existed until 1 February 1949, when it was merged into the Women's Royal Army Corps. By September 1941 the ATS had 65,000 members and by VE Day the number was over 190,000. Famous members of the ATS included Mary Churchill, youngest daughter of Winston Churchill and Princess Elizabeth, eldest daughter of the King, who trained as a lorry driver and mechanic.

Lory from  Pugua, Italy sent this card my way. She used 3 stamp, 2 of which are the same. They were issued in 2019 and commemorate the 300th Anniversary of the Free Port of Trieste. The other stamp is from 2019 and commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Gianni Rodari, Italian writer and journalist.

As they say in the movies, "that's all folks " . Three cards is my limit for this time. Thanks go out to Lory, Suvi and Dominique. Thanks guys and gals.

Come back again soon.
