Comet Neowise, Nudists or Naturists, Jackie, Air BVI and a 1912 Rapid

BLOG # 1578 --- Day 823 of the Pandemic --- Day 108 of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

                                                             GLORY TO UKRAINE

Howdy again - yes it's getting closer to Stampede .

I want to start this update with a postcard with an out of this world picture. It's a picture of Comet Neowise as photographed in the summer of 2020.  Comet Neowise was discovered on March 27, 2020.It's orbit takes 6,792 years to complete so if you missed it back in 2020, you're  now plum out of luck. I guess the picture on my card will have to suffice. Neowise is currently 1,133,132,939 km from Earth, but back on July 23, 2020 it was only 103,499,702 km away. Neowise was discovered by Nasa's Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer or NEOWISE.

The card was sent by Marco who also photographed the comet , as the picture is his . Marco used a stamp from 2021, 1 of 2 in a set showing Baby Animals, in this case baby Alpine Ibex.

My next card arrived from Zwolle, in northeastern Netherlands. And I guess the question is , are they nudists or naturists ? I'm no expert on the subject but I believe a nudist is someone who is nude because they enjoy being nude or simply because it feels good, while a naturist is someone who is nude because they believe it is the correct way to live. I asked Janet, who sent the card, if she was the lady on the card. She declined to answer. So readers, it's up to you to decide whether they are nudists or naturists. My main take away here is that nude or clothed , the grass still grows and needs a mow every now and then.

Janet used a Typically Dutch - Wooden Houses stamp from 2021.

Here`s another of the Celtic Woman series. Here we see Tara, Chloe, Susan and Meagan relaxing in Johnstown Castle in County Wexford, Ireland. This was the location for a spectacular outdoor concert by Celtic Woman back in 2020. It was also the site of the 21 year old Megan Walsh`s debut as the newest member of  Celtic Woman. Megan earlier had roles in the stage musicals Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar where she played Mary Magdalene and Les Miserables where she played Cosette.

The stamps on this card include 2 of the 2010 Chinese New Year, Year of the Tiger issue. A 2011 stamp celebrating St Patrick`s Day is also seen.

It`s time now for an Airline - Aircraft card. It`s an AIR BVI HS748, registered as VP-LVN. Founded in 1971, AIR BVI ceased operations in 1993 . It operated a fleet of 3 aircraft. VP-LVN , a fixed wing multi engine turbo-prop was built in 1961. Between 1961 and 1992 it saw service with Avro Corp, Skyways of London, Dan Air London and lastly Air BVI. It was broken up as scrap in June 2000.

Jean Pierre used a stamp from 1983. It is 1 of 4 in a set Commemorating the 200th Anniversary of Manned Flight.

Her name is Jackie and she is photographed by Sam Maxwell. That`s all I know.

Paivi from Finland used a 2022 Europa stamp on this card. It is 1 of 2 in the theme of Stories and Myths.

Here`s the last card for today, from the Czech Republic. Another Aircraft card. This time it is a 1912 Rapid which reached a remarkable speed of 130 km per hour. It was designed  and built by Eugen Cihak.

Tomas used a stamp from 2021. It highlights Ramsar`s Agreement on the Protection of Wetlands.

Don`t forget the 2014 stamp on the front of the card. Identical to the card itself.

That`s all for this time. So ends another blog update. Thanks today to out to Paivi, Jean Pierre, Janet, Marco, Tomas and to David.

Just in case anyone is keeping track, other than me, 9 of the 25 cards I sent from Cuba have arrived, but sadly all without any postmark cancellation. Originally I was frustrated with the thought that the cards were never going to see the light of day, but now I`m royally pissed off that they have no post markings of any sort. Grrrrr !!
