It's Tuesday Again, Time to Update

As the title says, it's Tuesday, so that must mean a new update. A week between updates is like forever. It feels good to be back here today, so as someone used to say, maybe Ed Sullivan, but I'm not sure, " on with the show " .

First I have three cards , all postmarked in Roeselare, Belgium. Roeselare is a Belgian city in the province  of West Flanders. Each of the cards received a nice, special picture perfect cancellation. All three cards were sent by Johan. His first card shows a Greylag Goose. The Greylag Goose has grey and white plumage and an orange beak and legs. It's a large bird, with an average weight of 3.3 kilograms.

This card arrived with 2 great and recent stamps. One is a flower and the other shows a bird, great topical stamps. The 2 stamps are from a souvenir sheet of 5 Birds and 5 Flowers. It's a really nice, attractive sheet, one I think any collector would be proud to own.

Strangely, my online stamp source says these stamps were issued on 16/06/2016 but the card has a cancellation date of 10/06/2016.I don't have the full scoop on this, so perhaps someone will enlighten me.

Johan's second card gives an aerial view of the European Parliament buildings in Brussels. Impressive to say the least.

There`s a 2016 Europa stamp on this one. The theme of the stamp is `Ecology in Europe - Think Green `. Again the stamp was issued 13-06-2016 even though the card is postmarked 11-06-2016.

Here`s Johan`s third card. It`s an Aviation related card, a new addition to my Airline  Postcard Collection. It features a SABENA stewardess, at least that`s what the card says, but nowadays, I think they prefer the term Flight Attendant.  The card shows Boeing Jet Intercontinental on the tail of the aircraft. SABENA was the National Airline of Belgium from 1923 - 2001 and they operated B707s starting in 1960. So perhaps the flight attendant is boarding a B707 for a flight across the Atlantic.

This one arrived with a really great stamp. It is 1 of 5 different stamps in a sheetlet featuring Old Aircraft. The sheet was issued on 16-06-2016, but again my card was postmarked 10-06-2016. I`m sure someone will leave a comment as to what`s going on with the dates on these cards. Getting back to the Old Aircraft sheet, it`s really a nice one and one I hope to add to my collection soon.

Thanks Johan for these three great cards and wonderful stamps.

My next card arrived from Jersey. Jersey or the Bailiwick of Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, between England and France. It is a self governing parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy. Jersey is a Crown Dependency of the United Kingdom, but not part of the United Kingdom. On Dominique`s card we can see Elizabeth Castle and St Helier Harbour. The castle is named after Elizabeth I , who was Queen around the time the castle was built.

Another card with great stamps, I love that. On the left is a Coat of Arms stamp from 1981. It is 1 of 11 in the set. In the middle is a Maritime Heritage stamp from a set of 10 issued in 2000. The one the right is 1 of 2 in a 1986 set celebrating the Wedding of Andrew and Sarah, Duke and Duchess of York.

So ends another update. Thanks to Johan and Dominique for their cards. Drop by again soon, my next update will have cards from Sri Lanka and China , Thailand and Portugal. Take care.
